FAQs

Let's answer some of your most common questions.

FAQs

We get a lot of questions from couples, and rightfully so.  Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions.  Do you have one you don't see here? Drop us a line and ask!

Q: Does your studio provide videography services?
A: No, however, we do have several videographers that we know and trust and will certainly refer you to them for your wedding day.

Q: Have you shot at my venue before?
A: We have shot at hundreds of venues, so there is a good chance that we have. However, if we have not, we will try to get to the venue early on the day of and be sure to perform a thorough walk-through to scout out the best photography locations. We also do extensive online research prior to your big day!

Q: Can we have the high resolution files?
A: Yes, high resolution files are included in all of our packages, including the photos from your engagement session. They are available via a download from your online gallery.  These files are for personal use only and cannot be used for commercial or financial gain.

Q: Do you deliver every image you shoot?
A: No, we do not. We eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery. For example, because we shoot with low apertures, sometimes we take a few extra shots to make sure we have the perfect focus. We don’t expect you to have the expertise or the time to zoom into each image to select the one with the sharpest focus, so we spend hours doing that on our end. In another example, candid laughs and emotional tears are some of the best images from the day. Unfortunately, they can also yield some unflattering facial expressions. We might snap a few extras of any of these moments to make sure we have a great shot with the ideal expression for the moment. With our expertise of processing tens of thousands of images each year, we may eliminate ones that we feel are duplicates and only deliver the best one.

Q: What do you do if we have an outdoor venue and it rains on our wedding day?
A: Most venues will offer you a rain plan with a backup indoor location. We easily adapt to any situation. Our favorite wedding photos have a lot more to do with your personalities and your chemistry as a couple, than what kind of background you’re standing in front of. If you are happy and in love, that will show in your photos. We see rain as a fun, adventurous twist that usually brings laughter and spontaneity.

Q: We are very uncomfortable having our photos taken. How can you help us?
A: Most people have never had a professional photo session before so it's normal to be nervous and a little uncomfortable.  We will give you as much encouragement and direction as you want or need.  We do not fixate on posing, but rather creating a scenario from which you can work from.

Q: Should I give you a shot list?
A: Yes, but only if it includes the extraneous family and friends you would like photos of. Standard procedure dictates that we will photograph the bride, groom, parents, wedding party etc.

Q: What is required to book my date?
A: A $1,000 deposit and signed contract will secure your date. The remaining balance can be paid in installments or lump sum - whichever is easier for you. We just ask that the balance be paid in full at least 3 days prior to the event.

Q: Can I upload my wedding photos to social media?
A: Yes!  Social media is a great way to display your photos and for us to advertise.  We just ask that you credit us with the photos and please do not add any effects to the photos when posting.

Q: How many wedding photos will I get?
A: It all depends on what kind of coverage you have for the day and how much is going on during the course of the event.  Chances are for an engagement session you will see 70+ final images and for a wedding, upwards of 800+

Q: Do you do destination weddings? What additional fees are associated with destination weddings?
A: We love to travel and a destination wedding is an amazing opportunity.  Our wedding packages remain the same as far as coverage and time go.  The additional fees incurred are airfare, hotel and a small stipend for food.  This all varies depending on location and length of stay.  We can work out the details when we meet and discuss the wedding plans.

Q: Can I see a full event from start to finish?
A: Of course you may! In fact, when we have our initial in-studio meeting, we run a slideshow of a full wedding either at your chosen venue, or at your time of year so you can visualize your day.

Q: How long should we wait until we can see our photos?
A: Post-processing for wedding will take 4-6 weeks. Engagement sessions about a week and a half.

Q: Will you travel for engagement sessions as well?
A: Yes, we do this all the time - especially for our out of town couples. All travel in Connecticut is included with your package.  When we leave the state, we only charge mileage at the current government rate and tolls.

Q: What should we wear or bring to our engagement or portrait session?
A: We suggest wearing what you feel comfortable in.  Most couples choose to put on some new clothes and work it - just please dress for the weather.  If it's cold outside, we don't want runny, wet noses, red fingers and watery eyes. Also, stay away from highly reflective materials and fluorescent pinks and greens as they reflect onto the skin causing an abnormal skin hue. Oh, and thin stripes are a no no as well as they cause a moiré pattern on the image.

Q: Can we change outfits at our engagement session?
A: Yes, if the time allows.  We tend to walk to several locations so plan on your outfits and changing areas accordingly.  We suggest not bringing too many items as they can become cumbersome to carry around.

Q: My venue is very dark. How does your studio handle these situations and can I see samples?
A: We have shot in the darkest of dark chapels and reception halls so no need to worry! If the situation allows, we will set up additional lighting to ensure we get focused pictures. Some chapels do not allow for flash photography; and for that reason, we shoot on camera’s with superb low-light performance and lenses with low apertures.

Q: What type of equipment do you use?
A: This is a long and lengthy list, and while we always say it's the photographer, not the equipment, we maintain the latest Nikon cameras, lenses, external lighting and necessary equipment.  We also continuously upgrade our computer and are fanatics about backing up your images.

Q: Do you shoot Quinceaneras, Debutants, Bah Mitzvahs, or Corporate Events?
A: Absolutely. These are all considered ‘event photography' and it's something we have done for years.  Our primary focus is weddings, but we are very familiar with all of these events.  We do not post galleries of these events because we take privacy very seriously and most of these events include children.  We can't possibly get parental release for every child photographed.
